Slice of Cherry

The book I'm reading is Slice of Cherry by Dia Reeves. The book follows 2 sisters that are the daughters of a famous serial killer. They live in a weird town called Portero where there are "doors" to different dimensions and monsters running around is normal. The sisters, Kit and Fancy, are trying to get over the fact that their father is now on death row after he was caught killing some one. They are used to people hating them because of what their dad did so they mostly stay with each other. After a while they cant help themselves anymore and they start to kill people too, but only the people they think deserve it. They dont want to end up like there dad though so when they up with a key to a secret doorway to a different dimension, they open a door to endless possiblities.
One passage that stood out to me was when Fanchy was talking to Kit, she said " 'Doors arent make-believe.' And they weren't. It wasn't a coincidence that Portero meant doorkeeper. Portero was full of doors, and not all of them had four sides and a door knob. Many were much more subtle than that, and sometimes people would pass through one not realizing what it was and end up on a desert with 4 moons and purple sand and creatures that thought humans tasted like chicken. 'People dissapear through doors all the time.' "
Other books ive read so far this year were Speak, After and Escape from Furnace: Lockdown.
